Anderson Fires
No-Hitter as Pointers Roll to Win
Stephanie Anderson pitched a five-inning
no-hitter to beat Bridgewater State (Mass.) as the UW-Stevens Point
softball team split a pair of games on Sunday in Kissimmee, Fla.
Anderson had six strikeouts and hit one batter
for her only baserunner allowed in the 10-0 victory. UW-Stevens Point
scored six runs in the second inning and added four in the third for the
win.
Mandy Jellish was three-for-four, while Danielle
Ashbeck was two-for-three with a two-run triple. Korryn Brooks was also
two-for-three for the Pointers.
Later in the day, the Pointers fell to Carleton
6-1 as UW-Stevens Point was limited to just four hits. Hope Krause allowed
two runs over the first four innings and Anderson surrendered four runs in
relief. Anderson drove in the Pointers� only run with a run-scoring single
in the third inning.
UW-Stevens Point is now 4-2 overall and plays
Wellesley (Mass.) and Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) on Monday. |
